We will be hosting a Basic Leadership Training at the Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut Ave. Hanover Park on Wednesday, May 21st from 11:00am-2:30pm. The cost will be $30 per participant, and lunch is included. This training course is designed for pool managerial staff to help teach the fundamentals of running an Aquatic Facility.  Participants will gain valuable training on dealing with issues pertaining to staff, patrons, facilities, emergency action planning and training, etc.  Though this training will satisfy the Ellis and Associates requirement for “Basic Leadership Training,” it is designed to benefit pool managers of all other certifications including Red Cross and Starfish Aquatics. For information please contact Laura Clark; l.clark@hpparks.org or 630-837-2468, Jackie Gonzalez JMGonzalez@SkokieParkDistrict.org, or Chuck Burgess at ChuckBurgess@bgpkr.org. Indoor Pool Costs

Posted on Friday, April 4, 2008

I’m doing alittle research for our long-term strategic plan involving an indoor pool.  Basically I’m looking for costs to build an indoor pool and a little detail about what was included (size of pool, how many lanes, depths of pool, type of filter system, seating space, party rooms, etc.).  Also, any information on current operational expenses for staff, utilities, etc. would be helpful.  The biggest thing I need is total cost for the amenities and when it was built.  If you haven’t built one lately but know someone who has please let me know and I can track them down.  Any help would be appreciated.

CDC’s recommendations for fecal accidents in pools

Posted on Wednesday, March 19, 2008

This is the article that Steve Neill was talking about at the Aquatic’s roundtable last week about what the CDC recommends for fecal accidents in pools. I was going to e-mail this out, but figured this was a better way of getting this information out to everyone. Please keep in mind that this informations does not reflect what is currently in the IDPH Pool Code or the PDRMA Aquatic Guidelines.

Seal Easy - CPR Breathing Protection - rejected joint purchase item

Posted on Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Seal Easys were rejected this year from joint purchase becasue a smaple was not sent from any vendor.  A few years back seal easys were accepted without a sample being provided and when they arrived they did not have any one way valves.  That is the reason the sample is required.

If you need seal easys and were depending on joint purchase for them, you will not be getting them from joint purchase.  You will have to get them on your own.
