It’s not too late to sign up for this year’s Lifeguard Games that will be held on August 4 at the Bartlett Aquatic Center.  This is a competition for Park and Recreation Agency lifeguards and junior lifeguards. Teams of 4 (2 male and 2 female or 1 male and 3 female) will compete in a series of events to test their lifeguard skills, strength, speed, endurance and their ability to work as a team.

This is a friendly competition from teams throughout the state that encourages each guard to rise to challenges, practice their craft, learn from other guards and have fun. In addition to the contestants, each team should also provide a volunteer judge/timer along with a victim to assist with the running of the event. Teams with less than 4 lifeguards will require guards to compete twice in the same relay events. Otherwise smaller teams will not receive any special consideration in entering events. To represent a Park and Recreation Agency, an individual must have worked for that agency as a lifeguard, for at least 40 hours between May 27 and July 28, 2007.

Early registration deadline is July 14 so register today (Lifeguard Games Registration Form).  The cost is $70 per team if you register early.  The cost is $85 per team after the July 14 deadline.  All participants must also complete the waiver form (Lifeguard Games Waiver Form 2007).  Complete information regarding each event at the games is included here (Lifeguard Games Event Descriptons).

Registration information, waiver form, and event desriptions are available here. This is an extremely popular, fun and competitive event for lifeguard participation. A $500 award will be given to the winning agency this year to be used toward training equipment for their aquatic staff.
