			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The registration form and waviers are now on the calender for Lifeguard Games at the Itasca Park District on August 2nd. Lifeguard Games is a fun event for your lifeguard staff to compete in. Register by July 11th and receive the early bird rate! <p>Info: This is a competition for Park and Recreation Agency lifeguards &amp; junior lifeguards. Teams of 4 (2 male and 2 female or 1 male and 3 female) will compete in a series of events to test their lifeguard skills, strength, speed, endurance and their ability to work as a team. This is a friendly competition that encourages each guard to rise to challenges, practice their craft, learn from other guards and have fun.<br />
In addition to the contestants, each team should also provide a volunteer judge/timer along with a victim to assist with the running of the event. Teams with less than four lifeguards will require guards to compete twice in the same relay events. Otherwise smaller teams will not receive any special consideration in entering events. To represent a Park and Recreation Agency, an individual must have worked for that agency as a lifeguard, for at least 40 hours between May 24 and July 25th, 2008.</p>
<p>Date: August 2, 2008  Team Check in starts at 4:00pm Event Start 6:00pm</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We will be hosting a Basic Leadership Training at the Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut Ave. Hanover Park on Wednesday, May 21<sup>st</sup> from 11:00am-2:30pm. The cost will be $30 per participant, and lunch is included. This training course is designed for pool managerial staff to help teach the fundamentals of running an Aquatic Facility.  Participants will gain valuable training on dealing with issues pertaining to staff, patrons, facilities, emergency action planning and training, etc.  Though this training will satisfy the Ellis and Associates requirement for “Basic Leadership Training,” it is designed to benefit pool managers of all other certifications including Red Cross and Starfish Aquatics. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><strong>Over the past 8 months a committee of involved citizens and professionals has worked collectively to provide the first Marathon south of the loop.  The race will run through Palos Heights on Sunday, May 4<sup>th</sup>.</strong><br />
<strong>At this time, the committee is looking for Volunteers age 18 &amp; up. Several volunteer opportunities are available such as volunteer check-in, gear check, directional/greeters, course marshals, water station, finish lines and refreshments. Duties will be assigned based on experience and need. Volunteers are needed to start at 5:00am on Sunday, May 4<sup>th</sup>.  Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and coffee the morning of the race. Volunteer orientation and dinner will be held Wednesday, April 30<sup>th</sup>, at 7:00pm.  All volunteers must be pre-registered and attend orientation.  Attached are volunteer sign-up forms, if interested, complete and fax back.<br />
